The Creator Roller Coaster |
Read Time: 2 minutes I have been discouraged recently. I released a Youtube video and it was the lowest performing video of my recent uploads. I am not growing on Twitter as quickly as I would like. Among other things, I just feel the weight of the content creation cycle weighing me down. If you are a creator, chances are you have felt this at some point. Being a creator truly is a roller coaster ride. As someone who spent too many hours of my childhood playing roller coaster tycoon and visiting Six Flags, consider me an expert on the matter. The highs are exhilarating, but the lows are terrifying. So what is the best thing to do when the creator coaster hits its lowest point? Give up? Eject off the ride? Hell no. Stay on the ride. I’m staying on till the wheels fall off baby. For me, It helps to look back and see how far I have come thanks to my content creation. I was able to find my passion and pivot to a full-time job doing what I love simply by uploading content online consistently. I have control over my time. I have a remote job and can travel wherever I want to. I have a schedule that optimizes my output as a creator. All of these reasons sound so simple, but they are actually life changing. Had I never uploaded a Youtube video, or posted a Twitter thread, I would still be working a mundane government job and forced to live wherever Uncle Sam tells me. Now that I have a taste of this freedom, I am never going back. So if you are a creator or thinking about becoming one, do it. Don’t hesitate. Just start. Times will get tough, but as long as you stay on the ride, your life will change in ways you can’t imagine. Just writing out these words has been therapeutic. It is fascinating the effect creating can have on you. When you share your thoughts with the world, you grow in a way that isn’t possible otherwise. So go ahead and board the creator coaster. As long as you don’t eject midway through, I bet you’ll have the ride of a lifetime. Thanks for reading and I will see you next week! |
